DESCRIPTION:Join us for a day of meditation in a classic Buddhist setting. Led by Lama Nancy Burks\, the day will include sitting and walking meditation as well as compassion (tonglen) meditation. No previous meditation experience needed–instructions will be given. There will be a lunch break from 12:30-2 pm; you can bring your own vegetarian lunch and eat here if you would like.

DESCRIPTION:PLEASE NOTE: THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED \nYou will find the individual events listed by date.  \nWe are very happy to announce that Khenpo Ugyen Tenzin will return to the Ann Arbor KTC to  teach for five days in October. He will teach on Medicine Buddha and the 21 Taras during his visit. \nA native of Bhutan\, Khenpo Ugyen was born in 1955 and became a monk at the age of 19. He received the Acharya (Master’s) degree in Buddhist Studies in Rumtek\, Sikkim\, at the age of 25\, and soon after was appointed a khenpo (professor). He then taught Buddhist philosophy at monasteries in Bhutan and India\, and at Dharma centers throughout Asia. In 2005\, His Holiness the Gyalwang Karmapa sent Khenpo Ugyen to the United States to teach at KTD Monastery and its subsidiary KTC centers. Khenpo Ugyen has also done intensive meditation retreats both in Bhutan and the U.S. In addition to his formidable scholarship\, he is known for his kind and gentle manner–and his love of deathly hot food! DESCRIPTION:PLEASE NOTE: THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED \nThe female deity Tara–“She who Liberates”–is associated with compassion and enlightened activity. It is said that Tara first manifested out of tears shed by Chenrezig in his sadness at the suffering of beings in samsara. There are many different forms of Tara\, and this weekend Khenpo Ugyen will teach on the 21 Taras: Green Tara\, who gives protection\, surrounded by her retinue of 20 other Taras\, each with her own qualities and abilities. The “Praise to the 21 Taras” is one of the most commonly-known prayers among lay Tibetan practicioners. \n  \nSaturday\, October 26 and Sunday\, October 27\, 10:30 am-noon & 2:30-4 pm\n\n$45/day or $80/weekend. No one turned away for lack of funds.
