Refuge Recovery is a Buddhist-oriented path to recovery from addictions, based on the belief that all individuals have the power and potential to free themselves from the suffering caused by addiction.  This is a process that cultivates a path to freedom based on awakening, clear seeing, understanding, and non-harming.  Everyone is welcome at these drop-in meetings. We are very happy to announce that Khenpo Ugyen Tenzin will return to the Ann Arbor KTC to  teach for five days in October. He will teach on Medicine Buddha and the 21 Taras during his visit. PLEASE NOTE: THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED Dzambhala is a protective deity associated with wealth and prosperity. There are many different forms and traditions associated with this wealth deity but he is most commonly depicted as yellow in color and holding a fruit in his right hand and a mongoose in his left. Khenpo Ugyen will give us the mantra transmission and lead us in a group practice. Free.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED The Medicine Buddha is an important Buddha in the Mahayana tradition. When he first became a bodhisattva, he made the vow to become able to completely free all sentient beings from their illnesses. Khenpo Ugyen will explain how we can heal our own physical and emotional imbalances by meditating on Medicine Buddha.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED The female deity Tara--"She who Liberates"--is associated with compassion and enlightened activity. It is said that Tara first manifested out of tears shed by Chenrezig in his sadness at the suffering of beings in samsara. There are many different forms of Tara, and this weekend Khenpo Ugyen will teach on the 21 Taras: Green Tara, who gives protection, surrounded by her retinue of 20 other Taras, each with her own qualities and abilities.…

PLEASE NOTE: THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED Khenpo Ugyen will give the Refuge Vow to those wishing to formally enter the Buddhist path. This will be followed by the Green Tara empowerment, which provides a powerful connection to her practice and mantra. (Note: Refuge is required for the empowerment. Also, individuals may take the Refuge Vow without staying for the empowerment.) Free; it is traditional to make an offering to the preceptor at the end of the ceremony.

On the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month we chant the Chenrezig and Amitabha Sadhanas (on the second Sunday we also read the English translation).
